Many faithful Christians see a connection between the Lord Jesus’ statements of “I Am” in the Gospel’s and His deity. The shear use of such terms in the context which they are used would be absolutely blasphemous for any creature, and so, the faithful are correct in their assertion that our Lord’s use of these combined terms is a statement of His absolute divinity. Where the faithful are incorrect is in reference to the origin of this phrase from Jesus’ context, stating that our Lord is alluding to Exodus 3, rather then the book of Isaiah. James White of Alpha and Omega Ministries has a wonderful article on this subject that will be helpful to read, where in it, he demonstrates that the phrase ego eimi is in actuality a commonly accruing title for YHWH in Isaiah, which the Lord Jesus utilizes purposefully to inform His readers that He is indeed YHWH of the Old Testament.
