Today we continued our study of the Westminster Confession of Faith chapter 3, where we continued to speak to the issue of God’s foreordination of all that comes to pass. This issue seems to create a great deal of tension in the Christian community, which is a shame because in the Scriptures, the doctrine of predestination is never presented as a doctrine to bring anguish to the individual, but rather, comfort – comfort in the fact that God is truly working all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Rom 8.28). If you disagree with this doctrine, I urge you to give a listen, because I believe that we answer a great deal of questions on this matter in a balanced and Biblical fashion, to include how God could predestine that we do things freely and without coercion (see last weeks study).
